Canterbury Home Educators (CHE) is an incorporated society and registered charity offering a membership based community of homeschooling families.
It's all about connecting families, sharing knowledge, and enriching the homeschooling journey for everyone involved.
Our Story
Our longstanding support network of homeschooling families throughout the Canterbury region continues to exists because parents work together voluntarily organising activities and events for our children to learn and families to connect.
Our parents support our dedicated library of learning resources, advocate for inclusion in educational opportunities ordinarily only offered to schools and work tirelessly to bring benefits to our members to support and promote home education.
Coming together we have found that we are able to achieve a great deal more and have a far greater range of experiences.
All parents are encouraged to organise classes, activities or events to allow for a greater range of experiences, topics of interest and friendships to be made.
The Canterbury Home Educators is cared for by a committee that is made up of home educating parents who are members of Canterbury Home Educators and volunteer their time to carry out our purpose as outlined in the Constitution of Canterbury Home Educators.

Canterbury Home Educators is a New Zealand Registered Charity and Incorporated Society.
The Consitution of Canterbury Home Educators
Our Constitution, also known as a governing document, is a fundamental legal document that outlines its charitable purposes (its mission and goals), powers, governance structure, and operational rules. It details how the charity functions, including who runs it, how decisions are made, how members are governed, and how finances and property are managed. This document provides legal certainty and consistency, ensures activities align with the charity's mission, and is required for registration as a charity.
