CHE is a network of home educating families
We are a network of dedicated parents who home educate their children. We come from a very diverse range of backgrounds and have varied styles and approaches to the way we educate, but by pooling together we have found that we are able to achieve a great deal more and have a far greater range of experiences. All parents are encouraged to run activities or events to allow for this range of experiences, organising things that they are passionate about and want to share and make available to the other families in the network.
CHE provides support for parents via info meetings, parent socials, family activities, the yearbook, educational trips and activities, a moderated Facebook page, the library, email loop and Adventure Mondays.
The email loop and private moderated Facebook page
Our email loop is the digital connection point of the CHE network. Once you become a member of CHE, you will receive the emails promoting upcoming events.
Each year we all get a yearbook which is a great record of the achievements, activities and adventures of the year past. This helps to give a sense of belonging to the greater network that is CHE, and also allows us to see more of what is happening for other families that we may not see as much as those who attend the same regular events as us.
We hold support meetings or parent social nights, usually one per term. This is a great time to get to know and meet other home educating parents.
We have our own library full of great resources. Membership of CHE entitles you to use the extensive library services. This is a specialist library and contains many examples of curricula, parent support books and magazines, a large range of early readers and much more.
Adventure Monday Group
Adventure Monday is a weekly playgroup run with activities for pre-schoolers and school-aged children. Each session has many areas of play for your little ones to enjoy, older children can play sports or games and there is often an extra craft activity organised each week.
It is an enjoyable, relaxed social environment where parents and children (all ages) can meet every Monday from 12:30 to 3:00pm during term time. We have access to the local Playcentre equipment, which includes a large sandpit, dress-ups, blocks, books and puzzles as well as our own resources of sports, science and craft activities. Every term we organize a wide array of extra activities at the centre - these have included clay work, baking, card making, felt work, pet days, theme days, emergency services visits and end of term parties.
Over a cup of tea parents get to meet and share their home school journeys, it's a place to encourage one another and have some valued adult conversation. It's a great place to make friends for adults and children alike.
'Adventure Monday is great for all of us, the children get free play, time to socialize and meet new faces. And as a home-schooling mum I get the opportunity to make new friends and feel supported and encouraged in the home-schooling journey.'
'We love coming to Adventure Monday! When we first started home schooling it was our first port of call. We have found great support here - a place to unload the many questions that we had when starting out. The friendships formed have been very valuable for our family.'
'Our family really enjoys Adventure Monday; it's a playcentre for the whole family! I really like that the children get messy play, paints, water play and some other crafts that we don't do at home. The encouragement and friendships that we have formed from fellow home schoolers are precious. This is a great place to talk, share and glean some new ideas from others.'
