First contact with Universities can be made either through Head of Department (HoD) or through Admissions.  Note though that even though a HoD may give the OK, Admissions may still turn the application down.

Each university is different and has different entry requirements; these requirements may also change from year to year. Check out the website for the university that your child wants to attend to see more specific details.

Canterbury University - there is nothing written in stone so it can come down to who you deal with.  It is possible for 20 yrs and up to gain entrance.  Remember universities want to accept students who will do well, they are under pressure not to fail students.

Waikato - website says over 20 yr olds may be admitted.

Special admission can be made for under 20s including:

* letters of recommendation

* examples of their work

* some sort of exam paper.
